About Tropical Food Forests

Tropical Food Forests is dedicated to helping Floridians transform their yards into productive, self-sustaining food forests. We believe that every landscape in Zones 8-10 has the potential to become an abundant source of fruit, herbs, and vegetables — all while building soil, supporting wildlife, and creating beauty.

Our approach draws on permaculture principles: working with nature rather than against it, stacking functions in every plant choice, and designing systems that become more productive over time with less effort.

Our Focus

We cover 85+ plant species suited to Florida's unique climate zones, from cold-hardy subtropical varieties in Zone 8 to true tropical species thriving in Zone 10. Each plant profile includes growing conditions, guild companions, harvesting tips, and culinary uses.
